What is Varicose Veins?

Varicose Veins are twisted and swollen vein in the legs which may be red, bluish and purple in color. Veins contain one-way valves to ensure that the blood flows towards the heart. If the valves are weak or damaged, blood can backup and overload the pressure on the veins . This excess pressure created causes widening of veins leading to varicose veins.
